Day 22 - 20 June - Microwave Tower to Day Waters Pub - 55 km

Headed off early and made the junction with Stuart Hwy by 11:00.  Another 7 km to this iconic outback pub.

The pub is full of crap...bras, undies, T-shirts etc.

Get here and set up camp in the dirt under a shady tree.

This guy was directing people to the campsites.

Showers and got the washing on and had a Barra Burger at the pub.  We then spent the afternoon either reading or updating the blog.

This place is crazy with tourists, caravans and camper.  They just keep on coming.  Janelle and I wre here about 30 years ago and it was nothing like this.  I was told it really took off about 8 -10 years ago when the grey nomads started getting around.

Everywhere we go, no matter how remote everywhere is staffed by foreign back packers paying their way.  If it wasn't for them there would be no one to do anything.  Daly Waters is no exception.  Lots of English, Italian and German back packers.

We are hanging out for Happy hour - Coopers Pale Ale $3.50 - what a bargin.  I might buy by the dozen.

We are off for a swim now.

Booked in at the pub for dinner because they have a show and a beef and barra dinner.  Food was great, particularly the salads, we have been missing fresh food.

Entertainment was pitched at the grey nomads and 10 - 20 years older than us, but everyone seemed to enjoy the lame jokes and old songs.  C&W or bush ballads with a bit of 50s rock thrown in.  Joe tried to get me up dancing with the oldies, but I chickened out.

While we were sitting there, who should rock in...late, but Chris Forbes retired ATO People troubleshooter with her friends Trevor and Jill.  Great to catch up with them all.  We chatted quite late until we were the last people there.  Good night.
