Day 7 - 5 June - Gilbert River to Croydon - 75 km

Headed off early 7:30 because we wanted to beat the sun and also get to Croydon for lunch. Not much to say today.  Slow riding at first, but we soon got into the swing of it and then hit our straps.  Fast trip, good roads and good tailwind.  We knocked the 75 km off in about 3.5 hours.  Had a bit of a rest at a rest area for half a hour then headed off again.

Booked into the local caravan park, swim, shower, wash clothes and shopping.

We had worked hard getting to Croydon and needed to replenish our energy so had a burger for lunch from the local supermarket.  It was massive.  Maccas should be worried.

Fun watching Joe wrap his chompers around it though.

We then went to the Visitors Centre to catch up on email and blog.

There was a paddock with these great rusty old cars too.

Had a few ciders at the pub and got chatting to the barmaid who was English, but had married an Aussie. We had a long discussion about the Dept. of Immigration and how useless they are and the ordeals she had been through.  You are not alone Jan.

Went back to the pub for tea because the chef was meant to be good.  Turns out they were pretty average.  Had pizza but it was a bit burnt around the edges.  Still, better than another round of noodles with sardines.
