Day 9 - 7 June - Leichardt Lagoon to Normanton - 25 km

Packed up early and rode the 25 kms to Normanton.  We had been told that there was a Camp Draft and rodeo at Normanton and as we were passing the showgrounds we decided to go in and have a look.  We got there about 8:00 and we were told that events had started at 6:00 am.
Went to the cookhouse for breakfast and was served by a tall German girl called Sandy.  She was a bit bemused by the whole rodeo culture.  We watched a bit of the women's Camp Draft before heading into town.

We went to the visitors centre to check what was around and then checked into a caravan park $40 , highway robbery.

Had a swim in the pool and did some shopping then headed back for the rodeo to watch the bronc riding.  Interesting.

Had a few beers at the rodeo and stood with the guys talking horses, cows and saddles.

Spot the odd man out here.  He's not wearing, jeans, boots or a hat.  This all looks strange to us, but we got so many looks from everyone as we wandered around the rodeo in our cycling knicks and shirts.  They tried not to stare, but couldn't help themselves.

This is a full size model of the largest croc ever shot.  Its massive

Headed back to town for tea but everything was closed ( including pubs) so had some dodgy takeaway.  Joe headed back to bed and I headed back to the rodeo to watch the bull riding.  Dangerous stuff.  Had a 2 km ride home in the dark

This rodeo stuff is a whole different world.  Men and women dress differently
